Our STUDIO
We ask a lot of you here.
Because you are ready to raise the bar.
So let’s go. We got you.
Our STORY
Once upon a time… Jen Waldman was a working Broadway actor frustrated by the lack of acting-based training for artists who work in musical theatre. This was New York City, the theatre capital of the world, but she simply couldn’t find a safe space to practice the technique and craft of acting and singing at the same time.
So she created one.
JWS is now the premiere training studio for theatre actors in NYC (and beyond). We’re home to the best professional theatre artists out there, and we have the stats to prove it. Our JWS clients have appeared nearly every Broadway musical in the last 20 years.
Our VALUES
We BELIEVE…
in SELF-EXPRESSION
Your point of view is singular and something only YOU can bring to the work
in COURAGE
Risk-taking is a necessary part of the creative process, so we feel the fear and do it anyway.
in TECHNIQUE
A successful performance career requires technical mastery.
in CRAFTSMANSHIP
Our artistry is our superpower, and we use it for good.
in GROWTH MINDSET
Everyone is here to learn, clients and teachers alike.
in SAFETY
Everyone deserves a safe space to do their creative work.
in INCLUSION
Every artist, with visible or invisible needs, has a clear way to have those needs met here.
in CONFIDENTIALITY
What’s said here stays here, and what’s learned here leaves here.
in EMPATHY
If you wish to be understood, you must first seek to understand.
in COMMUNITY
Camaraderie, not competition. We are all in this together.
Our COMMITMENT
Because JWS believes every artist is entitled to a safe space to do their creative work, we also believe that it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to make that safe space a reality.
We work with partners in anti-racism (Harriet Tubman Effect Institute), disability inclusion (ABG Inclusion Consulting), and consent (Cheek to Cheek Intimacy).
